This delicious treat is so simple, but so so yummy! It comes together in the blink of an eye, thanks to ready-made pizza dough, but it looks very impressive. It would be the perfect end to a pizza night, or a great birthday "cake" for a pizzaholic... like my brother. It's ooey, gooey, chocolatey, chewy.... so good. That restaurant is an evil genius. We had this as dessert over the weekend when we went out to dinner, but my brother requested it again last night for his actual birthDAY. Yeah, you could say we have crossed over to the dark side. Pizza dough for dessert? Yes, please.
I don't know what to tell you guys, except you NEED to make this. Like, immediately. This is too easy to taste this good. Yep. Pizzaholic, ouuuttt!
Marshmallow Nutella Calzone
Adapted from Campania Pizza in Dallas
Yields: one large calzone, about 8 servings
2 pizza's worth of dough (your favorite recipe, but I use one package from Tom Thumb)
1 bag mini marshmallows
Nutella, as much as you want!
Preheat the oven to 430F. Stretch and knead the dough out into a large, slightly oval circle. Transfer the dough onto an ungreased jelly-roll pan (it's okay if it hangs over the edge!). Fill half with the marshmallows, then fold the remaining dough over to make the calzone. Dab water onto the edges to make the dough stick together, then fold and twist the edges over to seal. Bake for about 20 minutes, until golden brown and crusty. Some marshmallows may boil out, but that's okay! Let the calzone cool a little, then spread Nutella over the top using a butter knife. Be gentle so you don't tear the dough. The Nutella will melt slightly because of the temperature of the calzone, making it easier to spread. Cut into strips, and enjoy!
